PoE technology combines power and control over a single cable, allowing lighting and other building systems to be linked efficiently as well as linking these to cloud devices for enhanced features. PoE lighting systems allow building infrastructure to be streamlined and more efficient whilst providing cost savings, ease in installation and greater flexibility.

Over time, the internet of things will allow lighting to become a service that adds value and intelligence for the benefit of all. The shift towards IoT can be seen with the developments in setup, commissioning and maintenance being made available from PCs, tablets and smart phones.
